Islamist communication strategies and practices in the Middle East

 Half-day Workshop

The workshop will explore the communication strategies of a range of Islamist actors in the Middle East, and aims to address the following questions:
how do Islamist groups communicate with their various audiences? What channels do they use?
What is the impact of context and conjuncture on the their respective discourses?
What is the relationship between cultural production and Islamist discourses?
The workshop will provide an opportunity for question-and-answer sessions with the speakers,
a more general discussion on key methodological and empirical issues,
as well as open up the debate on rethinking old paradigms and approaches to understanding the relationship between culture, politics and communication.
